Theories and Brainfarts

So, I was thinking...

I've played a lot of WoW over the years, I've had breaks here and there but generally, I've spent far too much time on WoW. That being said, it is a game that even if you have a break, you wonder what's going on, and you pop over to the popular sites to have a read.

So after doing just that, I resubbed for WoW just after patch 7.3.5, and after being afk for about a year, I'll admit, I had no idea wtf was actually going on, still don't, but kill/loot/farm seems to be doing the trick.

I don't raid, used too, but not since I stopped raiding back in Lich King after our General Vezax kill. So raiding in Legion was never my intention, I had a different plan. I'll save that for another time though, for now I'm more interested in theories for the future.

The future...

As we know, it's coming to the end of Legion, and there's already a lot of information out there about BFA, that being said, I still think there's room for possible stories to be thought about, and also ideas behind what we already know, such as the burning of that tree thing where those awful Night Elf folk live.

We'll start with the tree, and although we know it's set alight and eradicated, we don't REALLY know who by, why or how. Sylvanas is said to be the culprit, but I'm not buying it, so then who?

Suspect number one, Genn Greymane. Yes, that's right, Genn, and with good reason. Genn HATES Sylvanas more than Trump hates Mexicans, and something has been off about Genn ever since Varian was killed by Gul'Dan. From that moment, I think Genn had an agenda, there's not a chance a grumpy old fart like Genn was going to be happy with the flower power prince, Anduin, becoming Flower King.

I think Genn has been worming his way into Anduin' head, corrupting him, twisting him, hell we could even go as far as saying it could be Old God related, has he been whispered too? Possibly. So, Genn has been pushing and pushing Anduin, and I believe he's been snooping around behind his back, after all, Genn knew about Silithus and a discovery there, Anduin didn't.

Fast forward to the tree, and the theory I have. Genn isn't happy with the progress being made by the Alliance to take the fight to the Horde after what happened on the Broken Isles, and so he feels he has no choice but to force the issue. Going behind Anduin' back, and it's quite possible he was either approached by Wrathion, or he approached him, for help.

The two of them plot to create a bomb or another device, made from Azerite. This would then be taken to Teldrassil and hidden. This would also mean they knew that Sylvanas was planning to attack Teldrassil, which obviously worked in their favour, with Sylvanas already on the way there, there was no need to set up a lure.

How did they know? It's possible there is a mole in the Horde, but who? That's to be theorised later, for now i'll stick with the tree.

With Sylvanas in the area, all Genn would have to do is detonate the device, and there we go, tree on fire, charred Night Elves running about with their purple skin turning a lovely shade of BBQ. Genn then knows the inevitable outcome would be that Anduin would retaliate, and head for Undercity. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure why they go to Undercity, Sylvanas is the Warchief, it would have made more sense for them to go directly to Orgrimmar, that's where the Horde faction leader would most likely be. 

Unless of course, Genn suggested to go there, it makes sense for Genn. It is the closest Horde city to Gilneas, maybe it's a thought of expanding the Gilnean property portfolio. To me, it seems like Genn has the idea that he would make massive gains on an attack on Teldrassil, he gets to force Anduin' hand into war, and also the possibility for another settlement for the Gilnean people. 

Genn, with one action, could take out his most hated enemy, and claim new land. Which also opens more doors for him, I don't think Genn would stop there, I think his ultimate goal is to overthrow Anduin, and if this is true, Anduin is playing right into his hands.

But who is the elf with Sylvanas?

That's what a lot of people were wondering, but the strong consensus amongst players, is that it is Vareesa, Sylvanas' sister of course. Why is she there? I don't think this is a coincidence, I think if it is Vareesa, she wasn't there to confront Sylvanas, I think she was there to warn her, try and stop her, or at least tell her what was going to happen. 

I don't know why she has arrows in her back, but let's just assume it wasn't Sylvanas who fired them, if it was Sylvanas, she'd be dead, not a chance Sylvanas wouldn't have killed someone with that many arrows, I think it's more likely to be Alliance arrows, trying to stop her from reaching Sylvanas.

What next?

We know both Teldrassil and Undercity are left in a bit of a mess, Genn won't be walking the grounds of Lordaeron any time soon, but he has part of his wish, he has the Alliance on the tail of Sylvanas and I think he'd be pretty pleased with himself. Has he shot himself in the foot though?

If Wrathion has played a part in this, then it's not so straight forward. Although Genn will think he has his way, if Wrathion has helped, the only person who has got their way, is him. Wrathion cannot be trusted, he has an agenda, a purpose, a goal, but what? As of right now, I am not sure, I don't have a theory on that just yet!
